Adhesives & Sealants
Our functional additives are used in many chemicals including epoxies, urethanes, and acrylates.
In sealants and adhesives, fumed silica plays an important role in rheology control and viscous strength.
After fumed silica is added to adhesives and sealants and dispersed, a silica agglomeration network is formed, and the agglomerates react with SI-OH to form hydrogen bonds, so the fluidity is limited, thus the viscosity increases and the thickening performance improves. However, when shear dilution is applied, the hydrogen bond and silica network are broken and the viscosity decreases, which makes adhesives and sealants easier to use. When shear dilution is eliminated, the network recovers and the viscosity increases, this prevents the adhesive and sealant from sinking during the curing process.
Ultrafine precipitated silica is specially treated, with strong adsorption and good dispersion. Mainly used as an adhesive in the adsorption, anti-condensation, thickening and other effects.
