Silicone rubber
Silicone rubber has the properties of anti-aging, high temperature resistance, low temperature resistance and insulation. However, the molecular chain of silicone rubber is soft and the interaction force is weak, so silicone rubber needs to be reinforced before actual use.
Fumed silica is an ideal reinforcing agent for silicone rubber. This enhancement is primarily due to silanol group interaction with the silyl bond or radical cleavage of the silyl bond into the polymer. The surface silanol groups (Si-OH) of fumed silica react with silicone rubber macromolecules to form a silicone rubber molecular adsorption layer on the surface of silica, forming a three-dimensional network structure. This structure effectively limits the deformation of the silicone rubber molecular chain, thereby achieving a reinforcing effect.
Compared with fumed silica, precipitated silica is inexpensive, can be used as a filler for silicone rubber, has a good reinforcing effect, can maintain the optical transparency of the material, and can reduce production costs. But precipitated silica is mainly used for low-end silicone rubber products
