Talking about the application of aerogel on ships
On the morning of June 17, 2022, the launching ceremony of my country's third aircraft carrier was held at the Jiangnan Shipyard of China Shipbuilding Corporation. The ship needs to integrate multiple complex systems in a limited space, and the personnel on the ship are dense. Not only safety considerations are required for the materials used, but also the characteristics of limited space, high humidity and high corrosiveness in the environment. Silica Aerogel The performance advantage as a thermal insulation and flame retardant material is very obvious.
The power system of the ship generally burns diesel oil, and also a small amount of natural gas. The high-temperature gas generated by the power system is used for heating, cooling and power generation of the ship through the triple supply system. The pipelines in the power cabin are densely arranged, and some high-temperature pipelines are not enough. The space ensures the thickness of the thermal insulation material. The use of aerogel insulation felt to replace the aluminum silicate fiber felt can reduce the insulation layer of the 540 ℃, DN350 pipeline from 250mm to 60-70mm, and the construction difficulty is greatly reduced.
As required, for passenger ships carrying more than 36 passengers, the hull, superstructure and deckhouse shall be divided by "A-60" class. A-60 is the use of non-combustible materials for heat insulation. Its structure can prevent the passage of flame and smoke after the standard fire resistance test of 60 minutes. When the material is heated to 1000 ° C, the temperature of the back fire surface does not rise more than 139 ° C, any point ( Including any joints) the temperature shall not exceed 180°C. In addition, a large number of A60 fireproof modules for separation also make the already limited cabin space more narrow. Using silica aerogel as the thermal insulation material of the A60 module, the thickness is only 1/3 of the traditional inorganic fiber material, and the weight is reduced by more than 1/2. It is currently the lightest and thinnest material. Aerogel insulation materials have a longer life, maintenance-free, and easier installation, and their comprehensive advantages are increasingly recognized.
